Gameplay Overview
Cry Wolf is played in rounds with 3 distinct phases:
Daytime
The Daytime phase consists of discussion amongst the flock and casting of suspicion. During "the day" the flock attempts to determine the identity of the wolves by accusing other players and trying to figure out who's lying. As players form opinions regarding the identity of the sheep and wolves, they use the primary gameplay controls, called the "suspicion interface," to communicate to their suspicions to the rest of the flock. But beware! The wolves-in-sheep's clothing will try their best to deflect suspicion and onto an innocent sheep.
Sudden Death
At the end of the daytime phase, "Sudden Death" begins, when the two players with the most suspicion cast upon them become candidates for elimination. The rest of the flock must then vote to drive one of them away. In the event of a tie, the automated moderator ("The Shepherd") will decide who gets voted out.
Nighttime
Once Sudden Death has concluded, the game goes into the "Nighttime" phase. During "the night," the sheep are asleep and cannot chat with the flock, but during their "dreams" they may receive hints to help them determine the identity of the wolves. The wolves, however, are wide awake. They chat amongst themselves, strategically determining which player they will "eat" and eliminate from the flock.
The three phases repeat in this order until all the wolves are driven away or the sheep are out-numbered.
