anyone ever heard of this story?

ive seen the video a couple of days ago and it makes my blood boil. :(

It is sad to see nobody stop, though not too surprising to see many people completely not even notice. Busy cities can be like that, though it reflects very poorly on those people who did obviously notice and did not stop, like the guy on the bike who slowed to do the doubletake look but then kept going. However, I have seen this video and news report now more than once thru different media sources and the question most in my mind that I have yet to see anyone address, is wtf was the mother during all this? I mean seriously, how does one allow their 2 yo to even wander such a busy street by themselves and or manage to not notice that they are gone?

I think it is also attributed to the fact of a case that happened the previous year.

Some old lady got hit and a random passerby came to her aid. She then sued him for running over her and the judge ruled in her favour meaning the innocent guy had to pay huge sum of money.
