I like the idea of a Draft Round!
Will Captains be chosen by others or nominate themselves?

If you have been captain before, I think you can just nominate yourself and just become a captain. Otherwise someone, who has not been a captain before, can volunteer to become a captain and then the rest of the captains will decide whether he will be a "good" captain

Im honestly not sure if zip will support another Draft Round...
I think the best solution for a Draft Round is to have a pair of Captains per team. Such like Knicoal + Sven from last round.
From there, number of pairs of Captains and draftees would decide realm size? Personally, Id like to see pack size be no larger than 8. I personally felt like I let down some of my draftees last draft round because I just simply couldnt keep up with all of them (it takes a lot of time to manage just one kingdom!). Obviously you could counter and say "But quaffle, your realm won!" No, I won because my realm decided to push me to the win. Helping to manage a support kingdom is much easier than supporting a kingdom that is legitimately trying to grow.

I would support this as well. I think there are actually a number of 'newer' players that if given the chance could learn a lot from some of the more experienced players, and probably help the overall competitiveness of this game.
I would actually propose that we just run the draft ourselves, no work from zip. Make the pack size 6 like normal, disable realm size increasing to 8 later (I guess that is all zip would need to do).
It works better with 6 for a number of reasons, the least of which not being zip having to do less work. Also, we only have maybe 4-6 packs each round competing anyway. I think doing a draft and having 6 packs would be great for increasing competition for a round.
Now, the first issue I see with that would be captains, but I think we can find enough to have at least 8 captains, so another 40 people in besides the captains. Push comes to shove, I know there are a lot of qualified people to be captain who maybe havent before or havent been nominated we could use if we fall short.
I just think we are at a point now where not only do we need to retain the players we have, but we need to try and get some of these players up a 'tier' if you will, playing better, and making everything better for everyone.
Should we decide to do this, I will captain a team.

It takes a lot of time and maybe I would prefer not to, but a voice in my head tells me that I have to captain again. So yeah, I'll do it again if needed.

Agree, but I think a couple things make it a bit smoother than the previous drafts. While there are a fair amount of 'newer' players around, it seems to be they are a bit, uhm, better than in the past. Other than that, a lot of the playerbase is the same as it was for last draft, so I have to assume you would not need to do as much 'babying' with some of the real new people. Also, having only 5 other kingdoms instead of 7-8 will make a big difference. I also think since the playerbase is mostly the same, your chances of having other people in your realm able to assist the newer kingdoms is a lot greater, further reducing your work load as a captain.

I think it would be good if we do captaincy in pairs and then try to really focus on new or at least less experienced players in the draft teams outside of those two captains.
In many draft packs previously there have been plenty good players, for instance Kalles draftpack had four roundwinners or something?

The defending champion (largest kingdom and realm, may I add) must defend his title, yes?

Should we start the sign up for the Draft the same time as the round starts and then start the selection in the final week?
We could advertise the draft on the main page as well.

Next round or the round after? I'd prefer round after.
