According to Kalle, 300-400 active kingdoms.

Kalle is crazy.

I can restart when 1/4 of the round left and still get top 100 easily.

Mid-round, I randomed into a 3 player pack. All were active, all seemed to be enjoying themselves, and all were below 700 acres. The stuff posted in realm council was epic.

Active means that they have logged on in the past 72 hours. after that, they become inactive kingdoms, get the zzz next to their name, and can be removed from the realm by the monarch.

red - combination of losing interest and just being in a state of constant "crunch-time" mode has made me fall off the earth completely. I still have part of my supporter's package left for this year, so if you know anyone who'd be interested in playing my account, I'll give them my password. Not the best team out there, but a decent starting point for anyone who wants to play?

This could be just an impression that's far from the actual facts, but:

It looks to me like there are fewer active players deleting during the middle of the round. The cause may be the recent land inflation and "generated land" changes. That is, players 1) find more land early so they feel less behind; and 2) get less discouraged when they get hit since they lose less land per hit.
