The race heavily relies on it's racial spell. Not having cast their spell is disastrous for them. Instead of having a spell that helps the race, it's a spell so essential you can't go without. That should never be the intention of racial spells. It doesn't enhance their gameplay, it dictates it.

The cost of the spell is ridiculous as well. 15md per acre means that they need to run 30% towers (and recasting the spell every hour) or even 40% towers (if they want to cast it for 12 hours).

A lot of new players don't log in every 2-3 hours (neither do most people with a job) and it can happen a person is away for a day. While going away for a day is never optimal, it should not be disastrous. The easier the race to play, the more support it generally gets.

And also the spell improves their gameplay. The Minotaur eats units and the spell helps the units to NOT be eaten. :D

If a person forgets to cast the spell, they'd lose units worth 7k+ gold each turn per minotaur. That's like their REGULAR upkeep is that of 100 buildings worth of gold/resources. The spell brings it to a point that the upkeep is bearable, but without it, you lose very fast.

Also with the current stats, I'd probably take only very few Minotaurs. They're not that space-efficient (they require 1 buildings production even with the spell), so basically it's an elite defensive unit with a comparable defense of 7 defense per unit (1 unit takes 21+ spots). Which is not that much higher than their defensive "spec", with the difference that the spec costs like 2 times less than the Minotaur when looking at price per point.

On would take just a 1 or 2 Minotaurs for the worker-production, but not more. At OOP one would start with sacrificing 8-9 Minotaurs and just retrain HWs for it instead.

It really depends on how u play really. I would just buy 5minos overall after oop and rest go to specs. I made specs at 6.0op and dp not to suck much due to fact other units will rarely get trained. And because of that i made them 150casualties. So that underdefending can be devastating.

EDIT:

changed the price on specs so they wouldnt be so cheap :wink:

and -5k gold of Minotaurs

the easiest part is if u dont cast it and have food to feed the minotaur it still eats units :mrgreen:

im open to ideas on how to change it :mrgreen:

i can make it eat 5 units instead of 10 if u think thats alot :D

So if you dont have the spell cast, you lose military? Seems like a necessity to me.

It's indeed not quite clear from the description that the Minotaurs REGULARLY eat 10 units, losing like 100 buildings worth of production per Minotaur.

You gave the Minotaur a steep penalty (devastating regularly), and the thing that the spell does, is just majorly NEGATING that exact penalty. In effect, you could just leave out that they regularly eat units and make that they just 100 food each turn. That way you have space for an extra racial spell, a few lines of confusing descriptions less and it would scare away less people that are not sure they can fit Elveron in their schedules in a way to keep the spell cast all the time.

Also, does the race start with 10 Minotaurs in the beginning ?

thats the whole point of this race :(

i want it to be diferent from other races, if i take that away this race wont be unique anymore

its starts with 1minotaur heh

Let the race eat food normally.

Have a very good spell that also makes them eat the military.

Could be a resource bonus or defense bonus each hour it is on. If you want something complex the spell % bonus could depend on a something else in the race, like the bloodlust spell of Orcs.

150 Def on one military unit with no population penalty is too strong. It needs a better counter than automatic military reduction every hour in my opinion.

Automatic military reduction or training is bad idea in game like these in my opinion but if you WANT IT, make it something you force with the spell and not a permanent effect that happends when you are not around.
