Like usual I am too busy to completely run such a thing but I do like the idea and I do think there needs to be restrictions on the decks. I'm aware that Lorax has a league going but it seems to me that it's just too limited in what cards you can play with and since there are apparently so few players it's hard to find people to play. That's why I am proposing we start a new league. Inspired by this league I suggest a league with the following rules.

1) This is a league. I am not responsible for how often you play or who you play. You may play anyone else in the league as often as you like.

2) You start with a preconstructed deck. You may choose any preconstructed deck sold by Wizards of the Coast. If you change decks however you have to start over. We might want to allow players to eventually have 2 decks for variety, but if they do so they must be sure to keep the two card pools seperate from each other.

Notes on Precon decks:
The Preconstructed League's Banned/Restricted List is the same as Legacy's. If you ever get a banned card (or a second restricted card), post it. You can get it replaced with a card of your choice from the same set.
If you choose a Core Set Precon deck that's 40 cards, you can give yourself 2 core set boosters to help make your deck legal.
You have access to unlimited basic lands for use in your maindeck. Basic lands are not allowed in your collection, but they ARE allowed in your sideboard. Snow-Covered Lands can't be used this way. You have to get Ice Age or Coldsnap packs to get them.

3) Everybody is going to post a list of their cards that they have in this thread. In addition to minimizing cheating and recordkeeping, I believe this will facilitate trades. You don't need to post what's in your deck, just list your cards in an orgainzed manor (alphabetically, by type, or by casting cost, etc).

4) Every 10 matches you play will earn you one booster of your choice.

5) Trades are encouraged. Just be sure to update your card list after the trade is completed.

6) Other stuff
Games are best 2 out of 3.
If you can't finish a match, it doesn't count.
Report all wins/losses in this thread.
Sideeboard: Sideboards are 15 cards. The rest is your collection.

Since Mirodin is one of the two "power" blocks.. are there any banned cards in that starter? If not, then I think we are set to go...

No banned cards in the Sacrificial Bam precon (not in Legacy anyway)

I am also happy to help run this if you would like.

I might be interested... played in MWS or on the boards? Also, this has (sadly enough) a high chance of failing :(

Please do... btw do you have Workstation?

Riazor: If it is possible to 'save' a game in workstation, then I don't see why I can't be both. If you can't... then it will probally still be both, and people might need to use real cards/proxies. Does anybody know if you can?

Im not sure, but I dont use real cards for playing on the boards anyway. I just keep a text file of what cards are in the deck and use a random number generator to choose what card (line number) I will draw. I then delete that line.

I use another file to store what is in my hand (or just a few extra lines at the end of the first file) and use the posts to keep track of what is in play. It sounds complicated but its really very simple.

Bairdsy: Why arn't you playing in the other thread? To be honest I am tempted to put in a new rule... you can't get a booster unless you play at least one match that week.

I would suggest not giving out boosters at all this weekend. There are not enough players and if our decks become too strong too quickly it will be harder for new players to join.

How about getting a new booster after every 10 matches played, or something similar?

oh - and I hadnt posted a turn because I was at home and the files I have set up to play that deck are at work. Im at work now - Ill post soon.

That seems like a good idea. I will change the booster to once you play 10 matches.

I'd be interested in playing, but I'd like to finish my game with Ptran first so I only have to keep track of one deck. I don't have workstation, but use a system just like Bairdsy described earlier.

I'm a total newbie in terms of magic.... so could you explain what you mean by "...unlimited basic lands for use in your maindeck. Basic lands are not allowed in your collection, but they ARE allowed in your sideboard"?

I understand it to say you can put whatever basic lands you want in your maindeck (first version of your deck, only?), and put them in your sideboard... but I don't get what you mean by 'none in your collection'? It seems collection is an 'everything else' pile, a kinda storage for future sideboards and deck construction?

Bob: I basically copied/modded the rules of that other league. We might need to change that one.
