Just my two cents on the current lack of players. I strongly suggest that anyone that doesn't have a 4 man pack when the next round starts make your realm open to the public to fill that last spot. I realize that this may hurt your chances of finishing as hi as everyone may like but if a bunch of us try and help one new person that just entered the game or has only played a round or two it may get more people interested in investing more time and possibly getting others to play. I know in the past i have been less than optimistic about getting a random that may delete but with the current player base shrinking its worth the chance.

I know the first round i played i recieved zero help from the realm i was in and the only reason i kept playing was the fact that im very competitive and wanted some payback the following round when i understood things a little better. However i doubt that to many others would do the same. I'm glad i stayed because i really enjoy the game but the first impression or experience is what most gamers go on i think. Anyway just my two cents thanks again to everyone who helps keep the game going.

Im sure i can find the info somewhere but is there an app for phones for elveron or do you have to go thru your internet? I know i tried once from cell phone got to site but everything was way to small to use.

i mentioned a "mobile strategy" turn based games seem to fit nicely in mobile schedules. the difference between PC and mobile is only the pixels(im over simplifying).

if the admins would like an example if a game http://www.earthempires.com has a pc version and a "optimized for mobile" version. if you have a smart-phone(or just phone with internet) you can look at differences in the two for reference.

i like to play elveron on my phone(cause im used to having no attack calc) and i have been XP-ing the past 4 rounds or so and playing elveron on the mobile platform has been invaluable.

furthermore, mobile can be seen as a new market all by it self and with it new opportunities for ads and marketing... dont keep all your eggs in one basket as they say, mobile is emerging as the new access point to the net.

It's not that we are sooooo competitive that we refuse to hurt our chances that we do not accept newbies -- it's that we are soooo competitive that we do not accept STUBBORN-AS-SHIT INACTIVES to hurt our chances.

Plus, this is a game, not a JOB. Sure sometimes I do not mind putting in the extra effort to help train newbies - but other times I just wanna log in and PLAY and not be bothered with a barrage of questions -- taking them on/not taking them, this game forces us into an ALL OR NOTHING approach, which means that many of us prefer nothing. I was much more open to being helpful back in the day - these days I have neither the time nor the patience to be forced to coach people thru every aspect of playing (particularly since the plethora of stubborn and inative newbies far far far outweighs the number of thoughtful active newbies), which is why I much prefer to help newbies in other realms than my own - that way if they decide to go inactive, not listen, or whatever else newbies do - then my whole pack is not plagued with them also. That's why I think maybe a global chat option might be more helpful than taking them on in people's packs. But yeah, that ain't gonna happen either so I dunno.

Well this is part of the problem right here if we assume that everyone that joins is going to be a Stubborn-as-shit inactive then why even have new people join make it a private game for those elite players that play every round. With players with that attitude im surprised i found a coulpe early that didn't mind taking in and helping a new player. My pack did it last round and the newb played with us this round he didn't do the best but he finished above others that had previous experience with the game. Oh well just trying to put a thought out there that might help gain more people to play against. Imo if you don't start to get new blood myself and others that think like me will probably start to go else where to find another game. I really like elveron but im not going to play forever if it stays in the current shape. The more players at top, bottom , and middle level is what will make the game better not shunning people who don't know everything, but whatever i guess seems to be the general attitude so be it.

I think aiming for the mobile market might be a pretty good idea tbh.

it's because 90% of the people that join your pack are inactive and its annoying. I will for the most part only pack with people I have packed with before or know are active. The only time I will play with others is when I don't care how well I do. I have played with some great new players though such as easyjaws and harashin who when they first started out were great packies.

Sadly those players are once in a blue moon. More draft rounds are usually needed which tbh is a full sacrifice of a round for players who want to compete but it lets so many more people know who is active and who is not.

I agree that some advancement in the mobile market would be great. If it could be made into an app that would be amazing. With very friendly train, build and magic spell screens. Those are essentially all you need to be very accessible unless you are playing solely from your phone.

I use my phone quite a bit and the only problem is calculating things yourself or at least in a timely manner. Having the PS back will help with that. Not sure if you can use it on your phone. Never tried

Presumably, realm book mode should work sorta-okay from a mobile browser. I haven't yet done any testing on mobile interfaces to figure out how well it actually works, and I guess the way I did the omni mode for selecting targets out of the realm book probably isn't well optimized for a touch interface...

I have been playing the game using my phone (yes, even OOP hits) for almost an age already. Of course, nothing beats PC/laptop. But phone is survivable. :)

Creating Elveron as an app and then if possible offering it on the market (Android Market, iStore, etc) might give the game some attention. It's just the fact that people see it and maybe even try it, that can be rewarding. In a way, it is the same as advertising the game to your friends or something. They might like it, but they don't know it exists. Same can happen on the market. People might see it, try it, review it etc...

The question is though, how easy is it for Zip to code that? Or to convert the current code into a mobile (if that is even possible, programming noob speaking here :)). We must remember that Zip runs this voluntarily and for free, so as soon as there is a lot of time (and money) to be spent on creating such a thing, then it is not gonna work.

Make Your Site An iPhone App http://www.webmonkey.com/2008/11/make_y ... phone_app/

search results for website to android app http://developer.android.com/search.html#q=website to android app&t=0

just a couple quick app references.

google search for "mobile optimized site" http://www.google.com/search?aq=2&oq=mo ... mized+site

if upgrades are needed plan some type of fund raiser? i dont think it costs too much cause so many do it, and many put out free apps. but could lead to needs of better hardware or software.

I know zip works hard on this game as is but I say for his sake look into doing it and charge 99 cents a download and make yourself some money. Happy holidays to all.

I often play using my mobile. It works well.

I haven't played for a while and like the changes such as the ability to invite kingdoms to your realm, the 4-man-packs, lots of links to the guide, etc.

Active, willing newbs are hard to find and this game is fairly complex. I think more thought needs to be given towards helping newbs in their first few days of playing. - Perhaps just ordering the forums better?

Could active newbs be verified to be newbs in some way and then be allowed to be added to an existing 4-man pack?

Did this game die yet?

I only stay remotely active due to cell phone and iPad logging. I think last round I played every non oop hit was from iPad.
