It appears they have evolved to where captcha doesn't stop them.

Remove the captcha, replace it with "What is the name of this game?" or simply "Type 'ELVERON'."

Require users to use a random on screen keyboard (must use mouse to select keys), it would look like this:


I'm sure something like this would stop all spambots (that register themselves), but is it easily programable for php board registration?

Good idea... I don't know how coding works but the spam bots are getting quite persistent. There have been at least 3-4 the last 2 days.

3 or 4 in the last few days is only the amount that slipped by the mods.
according to the logs, dante and robes have actually been quite busy with them. Even my inactive butt deleted a few this morning.

These forums are a lot quieter now, but I did run into another way of stoping spam, keyCAPTCHA. It forces the player to solve a very simple puzzle.
