Well if we had enemy colored ones as well then we would need 10 of them either that or we would need to make it so that each color had 2 each with some duplicate combonation of colors.

Now working on Blue cards (but I will post the latest black ones as well for reference and just in case someone wants to talk about them as well). There are currently 9 blue cards, so that means we need 2 more blue cards and then a blue/white poison related enchantment (but not one that gives poison token or ability since white is totally anti-poison).

Poison x (Whenever an opponent recieves damage from this creature, that player recieves x poison counters. Whenever a player has 10 or more poison counters, that player loses the game.)

Toxic x (Whenever an opponent recieves combat damage from this creature, that player recieves x poison counters. Whenever a player has 10 or more poison counters, that player loses the game.)

Hmm.. I thought the first and last of these 3 were a bit overpowered and well, the second one is just nuts.

The going rate for a modern counter spell is 1UU with a drawback and 2UU with an added ability. I suppose that means a standard counter would be roughly 3U, although they tend to give counterspells UU to make sure any deck playing them is heavy in blue mana.

Going by that, Venomous Spite would probably be 2UU (counter with an added ability) and Poisonous Spite would be 1UU (counter with a drawback). Id suggest it was UU at the very least.

Id also like to see Tainted Knowledge cost 1U. See Words of Wisdom for the closest example I could find. Most cards like this cost 2U at least.


Im sorry if I sound nitpicky, but even in real life the sets go through design (what you have done) and then development (what Im trying to do) - where they are checked for playability, power level, balance etc.

Bairdsy: I really do appreciate your feedback. That is exactly what is needed. I don't consider it nitpicking at all. BTW, that is one beautiful card you made there.

Counterspell is (U)(U), that card's not banned right? They can't make counter worth more than that without banning that old card, especially counter with a drawback.
Now counter with an added ability might be worth (2)(U)(U) - I think you suggested the right price for that card, but it's because a poison counter is worth (2).

I suggest you read the following article on costing of counterspells in the current play environment by Mark Rosewater, Magic's Head Designer

Just because a card is not banned doesnt mean that Wizards dont think its a little overpowered. This is the case for just about everything blue. They have been toning blue cards down by making them cost a bit more a lot recently.

How about something like:

Toxic Transfer
2(U) - Instant
Move 1 poision counter from target player to another target player.

go with geLids.... mine seems too similar to a Red direct damage type spell or white redirect damage spell.

Blue is good at moving stuff, but its usually permanents/enchantments etc, not damage (which poision effectively is in this set).

Okay, now to add white to the list. Remember that white is totally against poison. We need a white/green enchantment (I can think of potential ones for green/red and red/black but nothing is coming to mind for this combo) and we need to come up with 2 more white cards. From now on I plan on editing this post instead of reposting in responce to any suggested changes until I eventually bring the next color back to the discussion. Only then will I repost it. I realize that this is a huge post and I am trying to minimize how many times I post something that large.

How about this for the R/W enchantment - its using the same concept as what I had thought of for the blue card, but fits better here -
White likes to take posion away from players, and red likes to give it to them directly. Combine the two for:

Noxious Conduit Enchantment
2(R)(W)
2(R)(W): Remove a poison counter from target player and add a poison counter to another target player.
