To create cards? You mean make up your own cards?
Heeey... Let's have a tournament where we can make up cards. You can't use cards you yourself made up, so it's impossible to cheat by making an absurdly good card.
To pretend we have a made-up card, just choose one card you actually have, and each occurrence of that card is treated as the made-up card.

Viperlord: While I find those to be interesting cards (and wouldn't hesitate trying to come up with decks based on some of those cards), none of them really offer a 3rd win condition like poison would. Poison doesn't rely on you NEEDING to have X card out there and then full filling X, Y, and Z requirements to then win. Poison is alot more clear cut. You have 10 poison counter = you die. It's that simplicity that makes the other two options workable. If you ever can't draw a card = you die. If you ever have 0 life points = you die.
JrEye: I would like your help in making the cards. Do I need to get a Gmail account? Could you please help me look over the cards and see if they need to be tweeked/changed/replaced? I am also going to need help finding art for them.

I wonder if it might be better if I just worked on one color at a time. Perhaps increase the total number of cards in the "Poison Expansion" to allow other people to get card ideas in it. I think I am going to try it and we will work on black first.

Okay we are now working on black for the Poison Expansion. I figured a good mini expansion number should have 75-100 cards in it. All of the colors should have the same number of cards, but the colorless ones can be a different amount. This means that black could use 2 more cards that deal with poison (and knowing black they don't have to be in the players best intrest). Please post card ideas and discuss possible changes to the current cards.
Poison x (Whenever an opponent recieves damage from this creature, that player recieves x poison counters. Whenever a player has 10 or more poison counters, that player loses the game.)
Toxic x (Whenever an opponent recieves combat damage from this creature, that player recieves x poison counters. Whenever a player has 10 or more poison counters, that player loses the game.)
**** BLACK ****
Swamp Centapede (creature - Insect)
1(B)
Poison (1)
1/1
Swamp Mosquito (creature - Insect)
1(B)
Flying, Toxic (1)
0/1
Cruel Assassin (creature - Human Assassin)
1(B)(B)
Fear, Toxic (1)
1/1
Undead Snake (creature - Zombie Snake)
3(B)
Toxic (1)
3/3
Toxic Thrull (creature - Thrull)
(B)(B)(B)
T & Sacrifice: Give 2 poison counters to target player
1/1
Noxious Shade (creature - Spirit)
3(B)
Swampwalk, Poison (2)
1/2
Cute Succubus (creature - Demon)
1(B)(B)
When Cute Succubus comes into play you gain 1 poison counter; flying
3/2
Poison Gas (sorcery)
X(B)(B)
Sacrifice X creatures and give target player x-1 poison counters
Noxious Resurection (sorcery)
2(B)
Take target poison or toxic creature out of target graveyard and into play

Here is an idea :
Zombie Bite (Sorcery)
2(B)(B)
Target player gets 2 poison counters unless he or she pays 4 or (W)(W).
EDIT : Thought of a couple of other ideas
Poison Shield (Instant)
1(B)
Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to you this turn. You gain 1 poison counter.
Poisonous Aura (Enchantment)
2(B)
1(B) : Counter target spell. You gain 1 poison counter.

The first two cards are too weak. Zombie Bite is nearly equivalent to Lava Axe, with the added detriment of allowing the opponent to prevent it. Poison Shield is basically a superexpensive Fog, I think it should cost only (B) and give every player a poison counter, not just you.
Poisonous Aura seems a little overpowered, it might be better if its ability cost (2)(B) and/or your opponent can pay (4) to gain control of it unless you pay (3) to keep control of it (that's a neat idea by itself)

If Poison Gas cost (X)(X)(B) it would be about as good as Fireball and better than the creature-sacrificing version.
I don't have much interest in making Poison cards myself, I find the life point win quite enough. I would like to think up some other cards, though.

hmm... looks like I will need to update this based on what I have learned. For example the creatures that are sentient need to be given occupations. I am also going to need to replace the merfolk with another creature type since it looks like MTG isn't using any water based races anymore.
oh and btw, ttt before it gets locked due to inactivity. Later I plan on redoing the list. I would love to have a 9.5th edition tourney with these later if there is enough intrest.

Sacramento Tzar wrote: Poison Gas (sorcery) X(B)(B) Sacrifice X creatures and give target player x-1 poison counters
This should be re-worded as:
Poison Gas (sorcery)
(B)(B)
As an additional cost to play Poison Gas, sacrifice X creatures.
Target player gets X-1 poison counters.
There are 2 reasons for this:
- It is balanced without having to pay X mana as well as sacrifice.
- The old wording allowed you to pay 5 mana for X and give 5 poison counters even if you had no creatures (as you cant sacrifice what you dont have).
Some implications of this change:
- You lose the creatures even if it gets countered.
Alternatively, if you feel you need to keep the X in the mana cost:
Poison Gas (sorcery)
X(B)(B)
Sacrifice X creatures. Target player gets 1 poison counter for each creature sacrificed in this way except for the first.
This again enforces the sacrifice, but means you dont lose creatures until it resolves. Something in between the two might be what you were trying for (e.g. No X in cost, but sacrifice in the effect as per the last example.)
My favourite twist on this idea would be:
Poison Cloud (Enchantment)
2(B)(B)
Sacrifice a creature: Target player gets 1 poison counter.

Can I petition you to change the name of this? A "shade" in magic has a very specific and already defined meaning. It is a black creature that gets bigger or more dangerous as you pay (B). Perhaps Noxious Spirit? It does give me an idea for the following card though: Toxic Shade (creature - Shade) 2(B) (B): Toxic Shade gains Toxic 1 until end of turn. 0/2 Note that getting Toxic 1 twice would be equivalent to Toxic 2 (much like the way multiple instances of Bushido work). Sacramento Tzar wrote: Poisonous Aura (Enchantment) 2(B) 2(B) : Counter target spell. This is out of colour for black (sort of). I like the poison drawback, but countering is definitely blue and only blue in modern instances of the colour pie. I would rather see this as:
Poisonous Aura (Enchantment)
2(B)(U)
1(B)(U) : Counter target spell. You gain 1 poison counter

Since we now have a blue/black poison card, I was wondering if every friendly color-combonation should be given one poison related card (so that there would be 5 of those multicolored cards in all).

A cycle of 5 multicoloured poison related cards sounds good to me. Id even make them all enchantments with a poison related activated ability.
For Black/Green I suggest:
Unnatural Restoration:
Enchantment
2(G)(B)
2(G)(B): Regenerate target creature. It gains Toxic 1.
