3 fisherman go fishing. each one has his own little fishing boat they fish from and they tie their boats behind a large boat which pulls them around and which also acts like a storage for caught fishes.

now at the end of the day when it gets dark they decide to spend a night on the sea and to devide the fishes they caught in the morning equally ~ each one would take 1/3 of all fishes cought.

during the night one of them wakes up and decides not to wait untill the morning so he goes to the storage, counts the fishes, finds out that for total to be devided by 3 he needs to throw one fish away and so he does. throws one fish into the sea, takes 1/3 of the total and leaves.

shortly after second fisherman wakes up, however hes not aware of the first fisherman who left already. goes to the storage room, counts the fishes, finds out and for the total to be devided by 3 he needs to throw one fish away and so he does. throws one fish into the sea, takes 1/3 of the total and leaves.

suprisingly enough shortly after the second fisherman the thrid one wakes up too, not being aware that the first and the second fisherman left already and follows exactly the same thought as those two before him ... counts the total, finds out 1 fish is extra, throws is away, takes 1/3 and leaves.
