The main knock against the for xp play is the fact that none of their units have more attack power than defend power making it very difficult for an xp player to have his usual insane attack power and low defense that they normally depend on to stay a specific size.
If someone could work around that, they seem okay. I doubt xp players using this race would train many Nightshades because of their high magic dust cost though

Oh right. Cause you won't be able to send it all due to the turtle. I was just wondering cause the units, aside from the shade, are gold in addition to converted units.
