Thought it was a pretty good movie. Was nice to find a movie that had a plot that was intriguing enough to keep me into the movie the whole time. I think it could have been better served being split into 2 movies, as some of the things werent totally explained.
I will say, however, that the director/writer is a DICK, because the ending actually solidifies both possible endings, which is fuckin dumb.

LMAO, yeah I'm pretty sure that ending was in reference to him having a chance to see his kids before leaving the country. Like when he wanted to shout and call out to them, he didn't and instead chose to just leave. However, when he spun his totem and was going to check to see if he was dreaming, his children called and this time he went to them instead. However, the ending is pretty much confirmed that he wasn't dreaming because notice how the totem kept on spinning by Saito's side without faltering even once? This time totem was faltering and that confirms he wasn't dreaming xD.

Well but they dont show the totem falling. the two things I saw were that in the end, he isnt wearing his wedding ring, which he was every time he was in a dream. But, also, his kids look exactly like they did in his dream, which would have been something he had seen a while ago, since he hadnt been there for a long time. So, his kids looking the same seems to indicate that he is still in a dream. But, alas, they dont show the totem stopping or still going, which is why I eluded to it being a dick move, cuz they made both things possible at the end without any closure.

Well, whether it was all a dream or whether the ending was real both can be proved by certain parts of the film, but the theory of it being real has no plot holes. The most obvious explanation as you said is that Cobb wears a wedding ring in dreams, and not so in real life.
As for the children, if one looks at the credits, different child actors were used which implies the children at the end have aged a little as compared to throughout the movie. Do also recall that we don't know exactly how long it has been since Cobb has left the US or that his wife had died.
It is also possible that once his spun his totem, he didn't care whether it would keep spinning or not because to him, he had finally come back to his children and that his children was his reality. Also, I don't understand why he used his wife's totem.. and that totems only tell the user whether they are in someone else's dream, not if they are in their own.
One thing that I noticed on the second viewing was how Cobb's father in law (Michael Caine) said "Come back to reality", and the old guy in the tents run by Yusuf said "They come to wake up, who are you to say otherwise?" These do hint that perhaps Cobb is still dreaming.

I think he uses it because if he were to use his own, he wouldnt be able to tell if dreaming or not, since he knows his totem. Though, after having said that, he also knows his wifes totem, but, to follow what they are for, theoretically in his dream his wifes totem would fail, which is why I think he uses that over his. I hadnt noticed the different child actors, but im fairly certain that they are playing the same clip at the end that they showed throughout, where he sees his kids run around the corner and then previously had left, but this time didnt.

Well Arthur and adriena or however you spell her name know their totem as well...actually Arthu made a point of telling the girl that only she should know her totem and no one else.

Ya i know, but using your totem only tells you if you are in someone elses dream, and not if you are in your own. Thats why I theorize that he was using her totem to tell if he was still in his OWN dream, tho, im not sure that works given he did already know how it worked. So, im not really sure there is a way for them to tell if they are locked in their own dream or not, just others.

Omg finally saw the movie.
I think its all still a dream.
What Im really confused about was the end where he is talking to Saito. How did he get there? Obviously Saito died early and was caught in Limbo (or whatever they called it). So he turned old, so does this mean Cobb died also?
Also how did Saito get into Cobb's memory? So the fact that the totem 'failed' signified that he was dreaming. But Cobb's mission was the find Siato and make him hold up his end of the bargain by planting an inception to withhold the bargain... But Siato realized he was dreaming so he killed Cobb, forcing him to wake up and not planing the inception.
So Siato never upheld his end of the bargain and Cobb must have just went back to dreaming and cared because he was able to let go of Moll.
Idk... but I think the key is to the whole Siato issue.

Cobb didn't use the kick to get out of his limbo. So he was pushed sideways into Saito's limbo.
