Barin was born around 500 years ago somewhere along the western shores of Solon. This part is renown for the raids of the Grey Dwarves. These small creatures come from the depths of the earth to enslave humans living in these rocky areas. At a young age Barin was taken and brought underground where he spent most of his adult life doing hard labour. At a high age he finally died, his body worn out.
But his shade refused to leave. A huge well of bitterness demanded vengeance upon the Grey Dwarves for destroying his life. Barin's Shade travelled to many places unknown and unreachable to mortals, learning dark secrets long forgotten. He managed to return in a second bodily form with the use of a powerful ring he found on one of his travels.
Being able to transfer doling shades into death bodies he created his own army of undead totally loyal to him. Once he animated enough corpses to form a considerable army Barin set out to not only destroy Duergar life but all life on Elveron.
